The Exodus to Say Goodbye

As if Argentina didn't have enough Americans, yet another is heading down to represent, yo. Sarah, a.k.a Sarah-non-jew, is heading down to become a second year senior in another country. In order to celebrate her departing, the fellow S.A.W decided to have a most excellent going away party. But a co-Dave-slave can't go away without the proper goodbyes, so we hopped in our cars, screamed a barbaric "Onward!" and charged to Tucson.

Sarah was extremely happy to see us for she doubted our SAWness and thought we all wouldn't actually come.

The SAWs, on the other hand, had a very long 2 hour ride and arrived a wee bit on the tired side.

But a quick dose of Sarah and we were all ready to conquer the world.

Or even play volleyball.

We consumed a smashing good all-American meal and sat around for awhile. Now, when you have lots of SAWs sitting around together we begin to change. We mutate into what others gawk at and exclaim, "How peculiar."

We become the SAWs we were at Music Camp. We become so much like our 3 1/2 week selves, that the following pictures may resemble old camp pictures. They are so similar, in fact, that you may start thinking that you are back at camp.

And of course you have to have the classic group picture.

The night continued with a refreshing down pour. It forced everyone who was at the party to get rather personal and fit into the not-a-refuge-from-lightning ramada.

Which of course prompted the never ending fun of cell phone pictures.

The party concluded and a portion of us Valley-o's headed off to Sarah's house to crash for the night. But this wasn't a simple feat. Getting to her house was apparently an "adventure" (according to Sarah). I thought this meant a rather intricate rout to her house involving lots of turns and weird streets, and oh boy was I right.

That night, I pioneered a mountain. In a mini-van.

We reached her house and enjoyed the view of all of Tucson. We entered what is now the absolute coolest house I have ever been in.

We roamed the house in total awe, pointing out how totally freaking big and nice it was. And then we went to her room.

Woah.

It even had a hammock.

And a cat that was totally in love with my feet.

After discussing for hours about how we want a house just like this and making fun of people in Sarah's yearbook, we crashed. And there was much rejoicing. Almost all through the night there was tons and tons of thunder and it poured pretty much the entire time. We woke up and it was still raining.

In the morning we all got up and had a look at her backyard.

Of which included her own personal canyon.

And her newly acquired river from the night's rain.

The view out her kitchen window was just as stunning. Now that would make me want to do the dishes more often.

So we got all our stuff together, said a hearty goodbye to the south bound Sarah, and began the practically vertical drive downward.

That coming up, is what we call an "edge". The road drops so fast that releasing the brake would send us barreling down going from about 0 to 40 in about .001 seconds.

Daniel and Rachel were doing their best to enjoy the ride and hang on for their life at the same time.

Weeeee.

We made it down the mountain and continued on to the greatest pancake and waffle house in the world. We ate up, groaned "Onward..." and headed back towards the valley of the sun. 'Twas certainly a fantastic trip

Bye Sarah
